My story

conCISE is a dream long in the making.

I met Contact Improvisation in 1996. I loved it, but it scared me. Touch consent was often assumed. I stayed on the fringes until I noticed I did that in other areas of my life too. I decided to make jams my lab for exploring nervous system responses to life. Like many assigned-female-at-birth (AFAB) people I had to unlearn patterns of appeasing, freezing--I had to find expression of my NO so I could fully trust and express my YES. I kept at it. Years later,  I started teaching CI in conjunction with my skills as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner.

I am committed to brave space--while I make mistakes and can't prevent harm happening for people who experience systemic oppression, I will address harms caused by myself or others promptly with as much mindfulness and calling-in vs calling out as possible. I have an active practice of sitting with discomfort, addressing whiteness, cisheteronormativity and patriarchy when it shows up in my behavior or communities. I'm a queer, mostly cis-gendered female with 3/4 Ashkenazi Jewish and 1/4 Celtic heritage.

Come play and grow.
